Pen to paper

Pen to paper

Have we forgotten how to write
Pen-paper out of sight
Lines once written-writing pad
In happy times-when we’re sad.

An envelope-news within
From a friend-next of kin
A lover with a scented kiss
Silent moments-reminisce.

Some cherished others thrown
Contents may be never known
But to the writer and their friend
That pen did often problems mend.

My centre space

My centre space

Amazed at how you never aged
Always welcoming-engaged
Time for problems all around
My heart is racing-hear it pound.

A beauty that will always be
A treasure I will always see
A rock I will forever climb
Natural loveliness-sublime.

You-you are my centre space
A warmth so easy to embrace
Kindness you will always find
Ideal lady-well defined.

Time’s Past

Time’s past

I recall when we were young
Ice cold water harshly stung
As we washed from frozen pale
Dried our hair in an easterly Gale.

Fitted out in short trousers
Braces strapped above the waist
Socks darned in multi colours
Spic-span-no time to waste.

It was time for Sunday mass
Spit-polish-inspection pass
In the churchyard gather around
It’s bells now just a distant sound.

Nature’s serenade

Nature’s serenade

Moments of sweet solitude
surrounded by a multitude
of floral fragrance floating
upon a passing breeze.

Wafting whistling elegance nature’s secret instrument
in an orchestral composition whispering sonnets in the reeds.

Choirs sing in chorus
creating common goals
a universe, an instrument
where beauty can unfold.

Now we are curators
resining the bow
in unison with bumble bees
let’s nature’s furrow plough.

Empathy

Empathy

Keep your soul happy
contented in its space
a spirit with a conscience
full of passion-Grace.

Release that love within you
reach out-hold-embrace
this imprint of your presence
upon the human race.

Simple smiles crystallise
the humour you possess
do not brand-stigmatise
with empathy-life caress.

Pronouncing a pronoun

Pronouncing a pronoun

Humanity is now a word
We can no longer use
For in this world of clarity
It’s use is quite absurd.

In the midst of it you’ll find
A gender no longer thought-declined
A pronoun panned to rubble-dust
In case we may perchance disgust.

Must we re write “history”
There we go again you see
For fear that we may vilify
Himself-Herself-you-I.

Just sayin.

Just sayin.

They watch as boats of children
Across the channel go
We watch while eating caviar
Sipping room chilled grape Pinot.

We live upon this planet
A universe apart
One drenched in mans unwanted waste
One in the elegance of art.

we could sit down together
Speak a language we both know
Maybe then just maybe
Meet as friends-not as foe.

The humble crow

The humble crow

I saw a crow sat in the grass
As black as black can be
It flew with feathers flying
It was stung by a wasp you see.

A murder of crows were pecking
Upon a motorway
A juggernaut came speeding
They upped and flew away.

Crusts of bread like magnets
Entice them from the trees
Like pollen in the springtime
Attracts the honeybees.
