It’s a conundrum at 5 AM.

Open my eyes – daybreak
Underneath damp morning clay, dandelions – Daisies awake
Drink in that sparkling dew.

Jackdaws call from rooftops high
Above a symphony of birdsong
Maybe I’ll rise – meet the day
I stare at my watch – sigh.

Five AM – I’m wide awake
What will I do for goodness sake
Roll out of bed – my limbs to test
Reset the clock – return to rest.

Silence sparkled – not a sound
Comfort- caring – all abound
Carefree – barefoot – meadow mown
Sink within a new seed sown.

Search into a troubled soul
Reaching out – regain control
Nettles – thistles – stinging skin
Nature’s healing powers – begin.

So this world is not so bleak
If only we that spirit seek
Step back a moment – breathe – unwind
It’s then that silence you will find.
