I remember kneeling at the chair
Reciting rosaries deep in prayer
Fish on Friday, communion fast.
Memories from my distant past.Playing marbles, climbing trees
Falling cutting scraping knees
Macaroons or penny bars
Spinning tops and dinky cars.Porridge breakfast at the table
Off to school sick or able
Duffle coat and shiny shoes
A tummy pain – that’s no excuse.Happiness a lasting thought
In hand me downs not shop bought Life was full of bumps and hollows
As clouds moved over sunshine followed. We never know what lies ahead
When we awake step out of bed
So make the best of what you get
Create memories you won’t regret.J. Poet 7 ( @wordverse.me )
