Never anger in your heart

Fondly remembered Never anger in your heart

I think of you most every day
along winding roads I make my way
Saluting truckers that I meet
Cordially acknowledge – greet.

I close my eyes, see you
That image warms my heart
Embracing all your goodness
although we’re far apart.

Your laughter still rings loudly
Those scented diesel hands
Never angry or downhearted
By our family demands.

By your side a partner
A couple purely matched
United now in Heaven
Forever lovingly attached.

Out in the elements

There’s a breeze that’d skin ye
As My mother would say
Wrap up well – Eat your porridge
Now off out to to play.

Slipping and sliding – hard to stand steady
Come home for your tea
I’ll call you when it’s ready.

A sneeze or a snuffle
She didn’t care
Wind whipping your nostrils
Fingers numb tingling bare.

No matter the weather
Be it wind, rain or snow
You’d be out in the elements
Without question or no.

Easily amused

Easily amused

Do your boxes have babies
In the corner of the room
Shopping bags in closets
Strangling the broom.

Hangers in wardrobes
entangled – Intertwined
Looking for a jumper
Impossible to find.

A list for your shopping
All sorted – arranged
With a push of a trolley
Like one totally deranged.

Life’s sometimes look like that
Confused, baffled, bemused
But when you come to think of it
We are easily amused.

Spring

Bid welcome to Spring
If there is such a thing
There’s white sleet a falling
It’s oh so appalling.
Fires are a burning
Soup on the range
You’d think it mid winter
How the seasons have changed.
Maybe the snowdrops all blooming white
Will Return underground
Frozen with fright
Now who would blame them
I’m cozy inside
Under the duvet
Until summer I’ll hide.

A lockdown memory

Them were the days.

Went for a pint in Mulligans
Fancied a packet of crisps
Settled snugly into the corner
Like little Jack Horner
A comfort I’ll never forget.

To look back on it now
I will never know how
I managed to get home at all
For when I woke up next day
There was hell to pay
For I’d fallen asleep in the hall.

Light a candle to the past

Light a candle to the past

I don’t see hatred in their eyes
Despite their desperate inward cries
For tortured family and friends
Those constant tears that never end.

Our visions now of desperation
Ghettos born of segregation
Honour in their misery
A Holocaust for all to see.

Now that many years have passed
Here am I still stood aghast
At racial hatred in our midst
Our inability to co exist.

Time has come to take a stand
Reach out with a loving hand
Open up our eyes to see
That strength is gained from unity.

Time to take a moment

Time to take a moment.

We have so much to offer
Oftentimes unaware
Of how a simple greeting
Can show how much we care.

Next time someone passes
take a moment – say hello
To acknowledge their existence
May matter more than we can know.

For life’s not always easy
Sometimes behind that smile
Just show a little courtesy
I’m sure it will be worthwhile.

Don’t be so blind

Don’t be so blind

In solitude we will survive
This virulent viral scourge
By washing hands – wearing masks
We will surely purge.

Those out there who do believe
That this is just a lie
Ignoring all obvious signs
I ask the question why.

People lie in corridors
Our streets filled up with ghosts
While you in total ignorance
Of immunity will boast.

Can you not see the anguish
That has visited mankind
Wash your hands, wear a mask
Awake, don’t be so blind.
